 Boat cover repair?
Got a note from Jimmy and apparently, the pole is sticking through the cover As it was, we had a 3-4 inch vent where the pole would hook into. I'm wondering if I can get a bigger vent and not have to buy a new cover. Anyone have any experience with this?

 Re: Boat cover repair?
Djiali, not sure where to get you to go down at the lake, but I would think just about any upholstery shop should be able to patch the cover if you're looking for a cheap fix ($20-$50 I'm betting if you find one near the lake). Basically, they'll take a square patch and stitch the perimeter a couple times then cut a new hole for your vent. Vents can be bought just about anywhere (Overtons). Another option would be to take it to a dealer, but they'll probably just take it to an upolsterer.
Had the cover on our Supra tear when a tropical storm came up the coast and it was on the lift. That time the upolsterer didn't even patch, he just cross stitched where the tear was and it was all good.

sp0tts, nice! apparently, Jimmy's cover tore too, so he's looking around for someone to fix em both! Glad he's taking care of this, no idea when I'd be able to actually make it down there

 Re: Boat cover repair?
Djiali, his cover on the pontoon??? I would see if he can get a tarp over it in the meantime or cracker rig something up. Only downfall about an issue like this is I know the upolsterers up here are usually booked a couple weeks out. For a 5 minute fix like this though, sometimes they'll do right away while you wait. Being near a lake, I'm sure any upolsterer down there has dealt with boat covers before. I actually had to get cleat rings put on my Malibu cover too because I didn't let my dealer keep the boat long enough to get it done when it came from the factory

 Re: Boat cover repair?
sp0tts, not sure which boat...didn't think he covered the pontoon Hopefully he'll be able to get something together. I actually took the carpet and seat cushions back to NoVA with me when we put her away from the winter...not too worried about any additional damage. (fingers crossed)

 Re: Boat cover repair?
sp0tts, yeah, I think you're right. I remember him talking about that at the end of the season.
